Whether you’re buying Playtex Bras or Champion Bras, the kind of fabric you use is a large facotr in the overall comfort of the bra. A little info on a couple of popular fabrics:

Polyester — A strong synthetic fibre, often used in fabric blends, the fibres may be crimped or bulked, it’s usually warm to wear, doesn’t stretch much, or absorb much water. It is rot- and moth resistant and may shrink when washed unless pretreated. Both woven and knit polyester can be washed and drip-dried. Do not press with a hot iron, or dry in the dryer on hot, the fabric will melt. (Dacron, Encron, Kodel, Fortrel, Trevira, Ultron, etc.) In the flame test, polyester burns slowly and melts, leaving a hard, black, round ash behind.

Nylon — Comes in many weights and widths and can be found as fashion fabric, sheers, elastics, laces, ribbon, also. It is a synthetic, first introduced in 1938 as a stocking fabric. Nylon fibers are elastic and strong and can be woven or knit, even made into such things as Woolly Nylon thread for serging knits with it in the loopers. Nylon rapidly regains its shape after stretching, washing easily and drying quickly. Do not iron with an iron over 250F - 275F or you’ll either wrinkle or melt the nylon. It is best to hang dry nylon garments to prevent wrinkles, since nylon resists wrinkling well and will regain its shape. A garment made all of nylon is much easier to care for than one of a mix of fabrics, which includes never using cotton thread in construction since the thread may shrink and pucker the seams in the nylon. Wash white nylons seperate from colors, since they tend to pick up dye run-off. Do not wash hot, or dry in direct sunlight (it yellows), but it is easy to dye. In the flame test, nylon melts very slowly with a small flame, leaving a hard, round grey ash.

When you buy a bra you want to make sure it fits well at the first hook. That way, when the bra stretches over time, you can adjust to maintain the good fit. As for washing your bra, this should always be done in cold water with a very mild detergent. Woolite is an excellent detergent for intimate apparel, underwear, bras and evn delicate outerwear. The lifteime of a bra will vary depending on how frequently you wear it. Obviously, the more you wear it the shorter the lifespan.

I would suggest alternating your bras and you may have a well fitting bra for up to a year! My sister buys her bras at CCQ Apparel now. Are there different types of bras for different activities or occasions?

Yes! There are many different types of bras that vary in style, construction and purpose. Questions about Fabric and Care

1. Your Bali bras will provide longer wear and support if you follow the proper washing and drying instructions on your care label. If the label suggests hand-washing, use a cleansing product designed for delicate fabrics. For machine-washable bras, attach hooks and eyes to avoid tangling, then place bras in a lingerie bag before washing on the delicate cycle, in cool water with gentle detergent. And never put bras in the dryer. Air dry only.

2. Your panties will last much longer if you wash and dry them properly. Look at the garment label for laundering instructions. Wash with a load of other delicate fabrics on the delicate cycle if machine washing is recommended. Line drying is always the best choice since a hot dryer shortens the life of the elastics and fabric. However, if you want to use the dryer, set the controls on delicate.

3. Follow the washing instructions on the garment label. Do not use very hot water and line or air dry only because high temperatures can affect the controlling performance of the shapewear over time. Use only non-chlorine bleach if necessary.
